FALL 2021

Bosque

by ANNE HAVEN MCDONNELL

Owl-lit, dappled
draped over
a tunnel of branches
which drops
the day, the clench
opening now to green.
Hard-studded hills
close their eyes
and drink. Now hush
now haven, ribbon
where the elk bed down
where we too unravel,
where leaves rise up
in loose applause,
in mended light,
          saying come, come
